 In 1985 a group of tourists at a beach in Koh Phangan noticed how beautiful the full moon reflected in the sea was and decided to organize a party in his honor.

Since that day the festival is repeated every month of each year during the full moon phase, becoming one of the most attended events in the world. The full moon party then spread to other places but the protagonists are always the Moon and the sea.

Claudio Villa's famous song Luna Rossa was inspired by the Moon in the Gulf of Naples.
